I assure you, whenever my classmate ask what books I like, the answer is always Harry Potter. My answered stayed the same since I was 9. Reading Harry Potter for the plot is one thing, but taking out interesting things and looking into them is another. J.K. Rowling certainly lived up to my expectation to be full of surprises and hidden meanings. Includes films as well.
.
Let's begin.
Voldemort.
Look at his name. You might just say oh, it's some random name Rowling made up to match Tom Riddle's name. But no. Translate Vold E Mort loosly into French and instantly, you get Flight from Death. And why is that? Voldemort is scared of dying. For all his life, he has been making horcruxes to make sure that he would not die. This is literally flying from death.
.
Barty Crouch jr. (film)
Do you notice that Barty crouch has the infortunate habit of licking his lips whenever he feels threatened? Well here's the proof.

Clever old movie Dumbledore noticed that 'Mad-eye Moody' licked his lips whenever he feels threatened too. That was how he realized that Barty was actually Mad-eye. Ten points to Dumbledore and the filmmakers!
.
Rowling's writing processes and links.
She and Harry both share the same birthday, 31 July.
She based Hermione off a younger, 11 year old herself.
The dementors represented Rowing's depression in her 20s.
Her favourite animal is the otter, Hermione's patronus.
.
Weird stuffs you never knew about:
Dumbledore
Dumbledore, translated to ancient English, means Bumble-bee. Rowling claimes that she always thought that he would walk around the corridors humming to himself.
He is gay. Yes, gay. He fell in love with Gellert Grindelwald (played by Jamie Campbell Bower. No wonder. How many movies did has guy starred in? It's countless.)

Voldemort
He was 71 years old when he died in the battle. Imagine the ripe old age he could live until. I'd rather not.
He has no nose (or rather, is deformed) as he has split his soul so much that he is not human anymore.
He could not love since he was conceived under the influence of the love potion, which could not actually create love, just an obsession.
The Death Eaters was originally going to be called The Knights of Walpurgis. Nope Nope Nope.
.
McGonagall
She fell in love with a muggle, named Dougal McGregor. He proposed, but Minerva declined in fear of never being able to reveal her true identity unless they had kids.
She was once in the Hogwarts Quidditch team, and that is why she has such a passion for Quidditch. (Look at the badge on the right. It reads M.G. McGonagall.)

Numbers
7 is obviously the most powerful number in the wizarding world.
In the whole series...
Molly and Arthur Weasley had seven children.
"Weasley" contains seven letters.
"Granger" contains seven letters.
Ron's full name has seven syllables (Ronald Bilius Weasley).
The names Lily Evans and James Potter have seven syllables altogether.
Children go to school at Hogwarts for seven years.
There are seven floors at Hogwarts.
In the wizarding world, wizards and witches come of age at the age of seventeen, instead of eighteen.
There are seven hundred fouls in Quidditch.
There are seven players on a Quidditch team
There are seven obstacles leading up to the Philosopher's Stone.
There are seven snakes on the door of the Chamber of Secrets.
There are seven locks on Professor Moody's trunk
Seven bottles in the last task in the Philosopher's Stone chambers
Harry helped Gryffindor beat Slytherin for the House Cup for the first time in seven years
Harry caught seven Golden Snitches during his time as Seeker on the Gryffindor Quidditch team

Enough with the 7s.
Hope you had an enlightening read about Harry Potter, now go re-read them to see if I'm right.

Potterhead unite <3
And my rating for Harry Potter is 9.5/10.
I admit I took off marks for killing Sirius, Lupin and Fred, but the writing technique is just amazing, making the whole series un-put-down-able.
